...And nobody does it better
Though sometimes I wish someone could
Nobody does it quite the way you do
Why'd you have to be so good?...
While listening to this song I was actually thinking about movie industry. It's rather sad, I know, but it so true. It so hard to find a good movie it makes me wonna cry. They make souch a big deal for every single one, whit trailers, adds, comercials, posters,... When really it's just something we've all seen before. And I'm kind of sick of movie stars too. It's so hard to find a good actor! For example, Johnny Depp - I love him allright but he has built himself a frame and can't move outside it. He used to make fine movies, but is now labeled as someone who is very good to play a crazy character, such as the famous Jack Sparrow, Sweeney Todd, Willy Wonka, Rochester from Libertine and Mort form The secret window. It seems those characters all had something in common with Depp as he played them very well indeed. But I only admire him becouse he has shown he can play a different one too, like Cry baby, Edward Scissorhands (Awsome!), Gilbert Grape, Don Juan , Ichabod Crane from Sleepy Hollow, Roux from Chocolate, Victor from Corpse bride (just voice), the guy from Finding Neverland and so on,... I watched a lot of his films becouse he never faild me, my point being, he IS a good actor, unlike many others. I'm only hoping he'll be able to brake this frame of "I play a crazy guy" in upcoming films.
In comparson to him I'd like to put Jennifer Aniston, a very well known star. Shes cute, adorable and so on but I always find her doing the same "face" in every movie she makes. She's kinda stuck with romantic comedys and always seems to be playing the one same character. I never could stop relating her to Rachel from Friends. She seems to always be playing the same girl only with different clothes and friends. I'm sorry if I'm too judgemental, I must admit I haven't watched a lot of her movies. I guess the first one I noticed was Bruce Almighty, and than, The brake-up, MArley and Me, He's just not that into you, Love happens, The Switch and The bounty hounter. But all I can tell you about her acting in thesee films is, she was in them and that's all. Sad, really, but she never really impressed me...
Actors just keep coming to my mind right now but I think I made my point already. No need to upset more devoted fans:)
Actually what I wanted to write about was Roobin Hood, the movie, the old and the new.
So the 1991, The prince of thieves Robin Hood was a very watched film in our house. And I never really got bored of it. Probably the child within me is speaking now, but I loved it. I always had a thing for medieval stuff. Starting with this movie.
I judge a film by how it made me feel; did it keep me concentrated, left me a moral message, made me fell good/sad/bad/angry/happy (all of it counts as a good thing)- get the picture? Everything of it must be positive for me to really like a movie, not minding on the picture, scenes, music, actors,...
So The prince of thievs did it for me. And yesterday I finaly got the courage to watch the new 2010 Robin Hood, with Rusell Crowe instead of Kevin Costner. It was a fully different experience. I had some de ja vu-s, like when they burn the willage, when he meets the chief of the outlaw kids, when Little John meets his lady and most of all, when he uses an arrow to save the day. But that was it, everything alse was a separate story and I took it that way. And kind of liked it. Only that Russel Crowe and Cate Blanchett gave it a more serious tone. I got a filling: this is a very important story if they're in. A darker tone. A weird love match that actually don't really match- she's far too rough for a Marion in my head. He's not funny enoug for Robin Locksley. There is no sight of companionship like it was between Morgan Freeman and Costner. Nothing of it had a vision, a better world for all. And I was very sorry for that. It's a legend after all and with legends you can do miracles if you want-but it all seemed as the film was trying very hard to break the bound of the legend and seem real. Just an amazing story, not a legend. And that's the main difference betwen the two movies. I would probably liked it more if I never watched the Prince of thieves.
However, Rusell Crowe is one of my favourite actors and staring in some of my favourite movies; Gladiator, Master and comander, A beautiful mind, A good year, Cindarella man.
Oh and yes, I was so very surprised to see Mtthew Macfdyen in the role of sherif! I couldn't help myself to laugh as this line went on and on in my brain:What on earth have you done to poor Mr. Darcy?:) But he surprised me as I believed him to be the bad boy:)
This is all for today, I already tire myself. I was about to write something more philosophical today but as you see Robin Hodd has changed the course of my mind and now all I want to do is watch it all over again (the old version, of course).
This picture was made yesterday and only a few minutes later it started to rain. I was so overwhelmed.;)
